Eda and Burr

Concept sketches

Characters & Environments
I was tasked to create an old Turkish con-artist.
In response to this, I have designed Eda and Burr.

Eda is a seamstress who loves to sew and knit all kinds of things. She especially loves making little vests and hats for her friend Burr. Burr is a large bear that lives with Eda. He is a delight to have around the house, helping Eda with all the chores and occasionally trying on some of her new outfits.

Eda and Burr seem to be a great match, and truthfully they are much more. Whenever Eda is ready to go into town, she will take Burr by the circle fountain and have him dance for a little coin. But on days that lack shoppers or when they just get ignored, Eda will give Burr the signal to start his true job. He hides in the shadows and under booths till people walk by, then carefully snatch peoples coin purses and valuables.

Eda will wander for only a little while till she thinks they've gotten enough, or people start to become noticeable of Burr's presence. Then give him the signal to meet her back home.

You wouldn't expects such a nice lady and her cuddly bear to be so devious, but everyone needs coin to live. In their case, they're being just a big greedy. Occasionally Eda will get a treat finding buttons, that Burr accidentally snags off peoples clothing, that she can add to her collection as a seamstress.
